This site uses one third-party script that I'm testing out for analytics for this site. It's hosted by a company called Matomo. They are not Google or Facebook, so they will not chase you around the internet to show you ads. I have nothing to sell here, so there is no reason for me to buy ads to shove in front of you.
The reason I have analytics on this site is to that I can gage how much traffic it gets, in case I need to pay more for it to be hosted. Here are the other kinds of things I use analytics for:
- Which pages people view: that helps me understand what people find interesting that I write.
- Which site or social media outlet led you here: I might check that out from time to time because I'm curious, but there isn't an action I will take based on that information.
- What general locale you are visiting from: It's interesting to know, but I won't take an action based on this information, either.
- How long you spend on the pages you view: That basically tells me how much of your attention you are willing to give me.
I made sure I can't find out your name, address, email address, or IP address in these analytics and set it to respect your Do Not Track settings in your browser as suggested in these guides.
I believe that your right to read what I have written without knowing you were here is sacred and I respect that.
Thanks for visiting!
